I have been in the mortgage industry since
1993 when I was recruited by Home Mortgage
Corporation, a broker in the Indianapolis area.
I worked for Home Mortgage for 5 years, learning
the business and developing the relationships
necessary to become successful. In 1997, I was
approached to help start a new mortgage broker,
and in 1998 we opened Mortgage Plan Financial
Services, Inc. Mortgage Plan became a very
successful company based on the core values of
honesty, ethics and hard work. Mortgage Plan
grew to become one of the largest mortgage
brokers in the state of Indiana, at its peak
being the #5 largest FHA originator in the
state.
2008 turned the financial and mortgage world
upside down and was a very tough environment for
everyone. It has been said that up to 65% of the
staffing of mortgage industry companies was lost
in 2008. Only the best and the strongest
survived. And we were one of them. But we also
knew that we needed to become stronger. So we
went looking to partner up with a mortgage bank
that would allow us to have the flexibility of a
broker, but the strength of a lender. We
interviewed 4 companies, and the choice was an
obvious one. Hallmark Home Mortgage was the
clear winner from the time we first stepped in
their door. Their sense of customer service,
professionalism, camaraderie and excellence was
apparent at the beginning, and has not
disappointed since we merged.
I have a degree in Finance from Indiana
University, and have lived in Fishers, Indiana
since 1994 with my wife and 2 sons. I am very
big in youth sports, having coached my older son
Kyle in baseball for 8 years, basketball for 4,
soccer for 2 and football for 3. I have now
moved back down in the age brackets and have
coached my younger son Matthew in baseball,
basketball, football and soccer, with many more
years to go. I enjoy playing golf, basketball
and tennis.
I look forward to helping my current and future
clients with their mortgage needs. This business
has become a lot harder over the last year and a
half, and you want someone who knows what they
are doing to help you through the complexities
of obtaining a mortgage on your home. I have
always lived by the philosophy that surrounding yourself with successful people will
not in turn guarantee your success, but it sure
doesn’t hurt the odds. I believe that our group
in Indianapolis, teamed up with Hallmark Home
Mortgage, just increased the odds.
